While some effects such as “Eclipse Wyvern” and “Draconnection” can prepare “Phantazmay” in our hand for its abilities, is preferable not to as the opponent will know is ready to be brought as soon they summon a Link Monster. Although the more Link Monsters on the opposite field will let us draw more cards we still have to refund nearly the same quantity afterwards, so unless you really need to replace dead cards don’t hesitate on summoning “Phantazmay” in response of a single Link Monster. No matter if is by Link Summon or even reviving a Link Monster by the likes of “Linkuriboh” or “Knightmare Corruptor Iblee”, “Phantazmay” has several opportunities to arrive on the field, even in our own turn if the opponent uses cards to summon during it. While as a Dragon-Type “Phantazmay” has strong tools to be summoned with, is highly preferable to mainly focus on its own ability so we can atleast draw a new card against the current popularity of Link Monsters. While the latter ability is reliable against a variety of effects, “Phantazmay” ability to refresh a big number of cards from our hand and/or replacing itself with a default draw makes “Phantazmay” a solid monster to keep some control over the field even against the bare minimum of Link Monsters. “Phantazmay” also provides a defensive ability often seen in current cards, letting us discard a card in response of a targetting effect against one or more monsters to negate it and destroy its source. In response of the opponent summoning a Link Monster (Outside the Damage Step), “Phantazmay” will summon tiself from the hand to then let us draw a card plus as many others equal to how many Link Monsters on the opposite field, but then we’ll have to shuffle back the same number of cards as enemy Link Monsters. “Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay” is a monster that is gaining some recognition among players due the strong results that can provide under the right timing. This also lead to players knowing how to counter many playing styles due their reliance for the Extra Deck, ranging from broad Anti-Meta card to those aiming against the popular mechanics at the time. Instead of just waiting to draw our strongest creatures like in the old days, as soon we can meet the summon requeriments of an Extra Deck monster we can start pressuring the opponent with strong attacks and effects. With the Extra Deck giving easy access to the best monsters our Deck can work with, is no wonder that quickly became the main objective of current strategies. You can only use each effect of “Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay” once per turn.Ĭan Be Found In: Savage Strike (SAST-EN020) When your opponent activates a card or effect that targets a monster(s) you control (Quick Effect): You can discard 1 card negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it. If your opponent Special Summons a Link Monster(s) (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon this card from your hand, draw cards equal to the number of Link Monsters your opponent controls +1, then shuffle cards from your hand into the Deck equal to the number of Link Monsters they control.
